Leslie Lawner lives in Albuquerque, where she does work for the New Mexico Holocaust Museum and the Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies providing professional development for middle and high school teachers on teaching social justice issues.

Leslie and her husband, Bob Carroll, a Marine Corps Vietnam vet, relocated to the Duke City upon her retirement from teaching middle school language arts and social studies. She taught at the Sidney Gutierrez Middle School in Roswell for 17 years.

Before teaching, she spent 25 years practicing energy law, first with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and later in the private sector.

She is originally from New York City, and her father served in the Navy in World War II.
