Leslie Lawner and her husband, Bob Carroll, a Marine Corps Vietnam era Veteran, relocated to the Albuquerque upon her retirement after 17 years teaching middle school language arts and social studies at the Sidney Gutierrez Middle School in Roswell.

Leslie now does work for the New Mexico Holocaust Museum and the Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies, providing professional development for middle and high school teachers on methods and content for teaching social justice issues.

Originally from New York City, she spent 25 years practicing energy law with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and in the private sector. Leslie’s father served in the Navy in World War II.
