Team Red White and Blue Wants to Share the Research Model It’s Spent Ten Years Developing that Provides a Data-Based Evaluation of Program Outcomes

September 1, 2026

Since 2010, Team RWB, a national organization of Veterans, has been perfecting a comprehensive set of programs to address the unique needs of America’s Veterans that concentrate on four keys to essential well-being: physical health, mental health, purpose and relationships.

The 300,000-member organization, including Veterans, Service members, military families and supporters, does not subscribe to the narrative that Veterans are broken.  In its approach statement, RWB says, “We believe that Veterans are capable of amazing things” and that they “empower our members to make sure they’re ready for whatever comes their way through local runs, national challenges, and events for every body and fitness level.”

While Team RWB’s programming rests on maintaining and enhancing physical fitness, in 2016, working with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University, they launched their first evidence-based study to determine what each program was actually achieving for program participants.

Since then, they have continued to work with the Institute to expand and hone both their fitness program activity and outcome research. They’ve crafted, tested, and evaluated questionnaire structures and content to identify one that program participants would actually complete regularly enough to yield meaningful longitudinal data. The result is a program outcome profile they labeled the Enriched Life Scale.

The data gathering process was then formulated as a software application (app) which compiles and processes program participants’ input to measure the program’s individual (and collective) outcomes on the Enriched Life Scale.

Military.com reports that Team Red White and Blue is now prepared to make this research tool available to other Veterans Service Organizations and non-profits so they can evaluate their own program’s outcomes.
