Celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence  is an especially poignant commemoration 250 years later, in 2026. The highest aspirations of the United State’s founders, are captured in the Declaration’s preamble:  “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed . . . “

These aspirations, gravely challenged in July of 2026, will be top of mind for all those who celebrate our Nation’s founding at ceremonies across New Mexico and the Nation. Here are Links to several of those New Mexico Events.
