House Resolution 1458 Co-Sponsored by Congressman Vasquez Passes the House

On February 2, 2026, the VETS Opportunity Act, co-sponsored by Congressman Gabe Vasquez passed the House and is one step closer to becoming law. This legislation would expand education benefits to ensure veterans can attend skilled trade and vocational schools and find gainful employment in high-demand trades. It also permits hybrid/partially online, accredited certificate and skilled trade programs to be covered under the GI Bill’s educational benefits. This bipartisan legislation aims to modernize veteran education benefits for in-demand, non-traditional careers, including technology and trades. HR 1458 will allow veterans to develop high-demand skills at trade and vocational schools helps prepare them to enter the current civilian workforce after their time in uniform has concluded.  It is now before the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs.  Read Congressman Vasquez’ press release on the bill HERE.
