The new Conservation and Environmental Caucus (CEC) of the NM Legislature met for an informational session and fundraiser on Sunday, July 12, at the home of Alissa Keny-Guyer in Santa Fe. Ms. Keny-Guyer has deep experience with Conservation and Environmental issues and formerly served in the Oregon State Legislature.
Members of the Veterans and Military Families Caucus, Dorothy Seaton, CD3 Vice Chair, and Joan Dickerson, Legislative Analyst, attended and had a wonderful opportunity to learn about this group of legislators and their mission. Most of these CEC members are also members of our Veterans and Military Families Caucus.
The leadership of the newly formed CEC are:

Representative Joseph Franklin Hernandez of Shiprock, Vice Chair
Representative Tara Lujan of Santa Fe, Treasurer
Representative Debbie Sarinana of Albuquerque, Secretary
Other legislators in the CEC who spoke at the gathering of about 70 people were Senators Linda Trujillo and Peter Wirth of Santa Fe, Representative Joanne Ferrary of Las Cruces, Representative Kathleen Cates of Rio Rancho, and Representative Diane Torres-Velasquez and Senator Harold Pope of Albuquerque.
Their mission is to organize legislators to support bills that preserve and protect our beautiful land, air, and water in the Land of Enchantment. They will also be vigilant in defeating legislation that does harm.
