Dear Members,
One of the most important responsibilities of the New Mexico Veterans and Military Families Caucus is helping identify and support candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to Veterans, service members, and military families.
I am pleased to share that our 2026 endorsement process is now underway.
The Caucus has invited Democratic candidates for the New Mexico Legislature, statewide executive offices, New Mexico’s congressional delegation, and other eligible offices to participate in our endorsement process. We also recognize the important role county and municipal elected officials play in the lives of Veterans and military families, and we welcome eligible candidates from those races to seek our endorsement.
Our endorsement process is designed to be fair, thoughtful, and focused on the issues that matter most to our community. Candidates are generally asked to complete a questionnaire and participate in an interview. This gives us an opportunity to learn about their positions on Veterans’ healthcare, military families, behavioral health, workforce opportunities, benefits, and other issues affecting those who have served.
After carefully reviewing each candidate’s responses and qualifications, the Executive Committee determines whether to extend an endorsement on behalf of the Caucus. We take this responsibility seriously and strive to ensure every candidate receives a fair and consistent evaluation.
An endorsement from the Veterans and Military Families Caucus represents more than political support. It reflects our confidence that a candidate understands the challenges facing New Mexico’s veterans and military families and is committed to advancing policies that honor their service.
Thank you for your continued support of the Caucus and for everything you do to strengthen our veteran community. I look forward to keeping you informed as the endorsement process continues.
Semper Fi,
