When Maggie Toulouse Oliver withdrew from the Lt. Governor’s race earlier this month, State Party chair Sara Attleson invoked party rules to call a special meeting of the State Central Committee to select a replacement candidate. One Hundred and twenty-six of the roughly 500 members of the State Central Committee are members of our Caucus.

The SCC meeting will be held on July 25th, conducted virtually over ZOOM, to ensure accessibility for State Central Committee members across New Mexico. Voting will be conducted by online absentee ballot after the meeting.
Three VMFC members are known to be candidates seeking the nomination: Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richards, State Senator Harold Pope and former NM Secretary of Veterans Services, Sonya Smith. Other possible candidates the Gubernatorial Candidate and Caucus Member Deb Haaland planned to interview were State Senator Leo Jaramillo and attorney Antonia Roybal-.Mack.
